The best of all worlds
Riverwood brings together the best of all worlds. There are six types of Riverwood dog food and six types of Riverwood cat food. Each variety contains three different protein sources. The meat we use for Riverwood comes from animals that have been able to roam freely. This has allowed them to live a dignified life and develop better muscles. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality of the meat.
At Riverwood, we do not use grains or potatoes. Instead, we have opted for yellow peas because of their low glycaemic index. These carbohydrates are broken down slowly, which is better for a healthy and stable blood sugar level. In addition, Riverwood contains a balanced selection of vegetables and fruit and no artificial fragrances, colours or flavours.

The Start
John explains that animals also need the right nutrition to feel fit and energetic. ‘This is the basis for Riverwood.’ If we as pet owners are conscious about what we eat, why is there no 100% natural and conscious food for dogs and cats on the market?
The Design
But... how did Riverwood come about? Developing Riverwood involved a whole process. ‘We took a good look at products that were already on the market to see what we could do better or differently, and we listened carefully to the needs and interests of consumers and nutritionists,’ says John. "We weighed, tested and discussed all the top ingredients from good dog and cat foods, as well as statements we heard or read from dog experts, veterinarians and behaviour therapists. In the end, we only used the very best of nature in Riverwood." This keeps the food as pure as possible: high meat percentages, no grains or gluten, but fresh fruit and vegetables and a rich blend of powerful herbs. Of course, we do not use any artificial fragrances, colours, flavours or preservatives. This allows us to bring your pet as close to nature as possible, with healthy and tasty food.
Unique
So... Riverwood is very unique within the dog and cat food market? ‘Yes, definitely!’ says John. ‘There are six different types of delicious food for both dogs and cats. Because... dogs and cats with intolerances and allergies also deserve high-quality food that is tasty and healthy. What's more, everyone has their favourite flavour, and that goes for your pet too!’ ‘We are determined to inspire as many people as possible to make conscious choices for the well-being of their cat or dog so that they can build a healthy and sustainable future together. We don't sell dreams, we help you realise them together with your dog or cat.’
Quality first
When Riverwood was introduced, the products were only available at the better pet shops. A conscious choice, as these shops offer a wider range of services and expert advice. After rapid and significant growth, an online brand store was inevitable!
International expansion
The fact that Riverwood is now internationally renowned proves that this vision and approach works. ‘Our products are now also available in countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria and Finland, something we are very proud of. We are far from finished growing and hope to make more and more pets and their owners happy worldwide!’
